01.21.10 Syra 3

Syra wore Diane's leather jacket for this pose. I used pen with water mostly and I like the way it turned out.

I have been exhausted this week post Dr Sketchy's but managed to make it to drawing Thursday. I'm glad I did, we had a very flexible and interesting model, Syra.

I have a weakness for hand tooled leather

01.16.10 First project, originally uploaded by Alice Stribling.

Handsome Bill gave me a leather tooling set for Christmas! This is a first step of messing with the tools to see what they do.

I have a deep appreciation of hand tooled leather and want to make some cute bags.

01.16.10 Prudence #3

Our model on Thursday was the lovely Prudence, she works with my small group of artists and helps us book models.

She always poses for us at least once a session and she has all the sexy costumes and accessories that I like: leather gloves, lace skirts, and thigh high stockings.

01.07.10 Thursday night group

01.07.10 Kelly3, originally uploaded by Alice Stribling.

I did several pen and watercolor drawings Thursday night.

It was a particularly lively night, full of off-color jokes and mayhem. Elsa said 'cunt' and I just about fell out of my chair.

Elvgren inspired watercolor

I have recently been inspired to add some painting to my drawing.

I love this woman's work: Luma Rouge http://lumarouge.tumblr.com/

I'm totally inspired by the dancer with the feathered headdress. It's such a fast and effective way to get a lot of movement and shadow/tone into a quick sketch

I also love Marc Taro's rendition of Bunny Pistol from Dr Sketchy's: http://tarosan.wordpress.com/2009/09/23/bunny-pistol-drsketchys/

In trying to use what I have rather than caving to the instinct to buy something new, I used a travel set of watercolors that I found this summer in Pietra Santo Italy. I'm glad I did. The quality of paint is wonderful and rich and creamy and the colors mix really well.

My sketch is of a Gil Elvgren painting. That man knew what he was doing when it came to painting luscious women.
